Your main image, at the size it is actually judged.

Every guide tells you to check your hero at thumbnail size and none of them give you a way to do it. Drop your image in and see it in a real search row, on a real phone width, down to 60px. No account, no upload, no verdict.

What to look for

Five questions, and none of them are about how nice it looks.

01Can you tell what it is?Not whether it looks good. Whether a person who has never seen your product could name the category from the silhouette alone. If they cannot, nothing else in the listing gets a chance.
02Does one shape carry it?At 60px there is room for one idea. A handle, a spout, a distinctive profile. Products that read at thumbnail size usually have a single shape doing the work, and products that do not are usually showing three things at once.
03Is the product big in the cell?Amazon requires 85% fill and the commercial reason is right here: an under-filled frame competes at a smaller size than everything beside it. Drag the slider down and the gap widens rather than closes.
04Does the colour separate from white?A white, cream or pale grey product on the mandatory white background loses its edges first. It is the single most common reason a technically perfect image disappears in the row.
05Does it survive the squint?Blur is a reasonable stand-in for peripheral vision and fast scrolling, which is how most of the grid is actually processed. What is still legible under blur is what the buyer registers.
Where the sizes came from

Measured, not quoted.

The desktop numbers were taken off a live amazon.com search results page in September 2026, not copied from an article. The image cell is a 274 by 274 pixel square inside a 299px card, five across on a wide screen, with the title set at 16px on a 24px line.

Mobile search is a two-up grid, so rather than assert a tile size we have not measured, the tool lays out two real columns at a real phone width and lets the arithmetic produce the number. Pick your buyer's phone from the list.

Amazon changes its layout. If these stop matching what you see, tell us and we will re-measure.

The privacy claim, and how to test it

Your image never leaves the tab.

There is no upload, no account, no server route and no analytics call attached to this tool. The file is handed to the browser and rendered locally, which is all it needs.

Do not take that on trust. Load this page, turn off your wifi, then drop an image in. It works offline, because there is nothing for it to talk to.

It is also worth saying what this tool is not: it has no opinion about whether your image is compliant, and passing your own eyeball test is not the same as passing Amazon's. The rules that actually pull a listing out of search are a separate list.

If the slider told you something uncomfortable, the next question is which half of the funnel is actually failing — impressions to clicks, or clicks to basket adds. They are different problems with different fixes, and only one of them is the hero image.
