The best images in the category are worth nothing if the listing never surfaces. Titles, bullets and backend keywords are written for the algorithm first — and then made readable for the person who arrives.

A title like this was fine in June.
Since 27 July 2026 the title is capped at 75 characters. The decision has to happen inside them.

Nothing is sent anywhere — this runs in your browser. It counts the characters, shows you the 75 that survive, and flags the two things Amazon's own guidelines name: a word used more than twice, and the characters that are not allowed in a title.
Waiting for a title
Anyone can read the policy. The work is in the margin.
- 01
Since 27 July 2026 the product title is capped at 75 characters, including spaces, in every category except Media.
We write to the cap rather than trimming an old title down to it. A title cut at 75 breaks mid-word and usually loses the size, the differentiator and sometimes the noun.
- 02
A separate item highlights field holds up to 125 characters and is indexed for search alongside the title.
Everything the title can no longer carry goes here rather than being deleted. Most rewrites we see throw those terms away entirely.
- 03
Titles cannot repeat a word more than twice, and cannot contain characters like ! $ or ? unless they are part of the brand name.
Repeats are removed and the space they were using is spent on a term the listing does not already rank for.
- 04
Amazon has said it will replace over-length titles with its own generated versions, with a review window for brand owners before the change applies.
We would rather you chose the 75 characters than a machine did. That is the entire reason this is urgent rather than routine.
Amazon changes these. Checked against current guidance in September 2026 — if you are reading this much later, confirm in Seller Central before you rely on it.
The deliverable, in writing.

Did Amazon really cut titles to 75 characters?
Yes — the change took effect on 27 July 2026 and applies to every category except Media. Character counts include spaces. It is worth reading the guidance yourself rather than taking anyone's summary of it, including ours.
What happens to my existing long titles?
They are not deleted, but they no longer display in full, and Amazon has said it will move over-length titles to its own generated versions, with a window for brand owners to review first. Rewriting them yourself is the only way to keep control of which 75 characters survive.
Where do the keywords go now?
Into the item highlights field, which holds 125 characters and is indexed for search, and into your backend search terms. Nothing has to be thrown away — but it does have to be moved, and repeats are wasted either way.
Can you guarantee a ranking?
No, and neither can anyone else. Ranking depends on price, reviews, conversion, stock and advertising as much as on copy. What we can do is make sure the fields are correct, the terms are not wasted on repeats, and the 75 characters you get carry the decision.
Do you rewrite the images too?
Separately. Copy and images are sold as different services because they are different jobs, but they are researched together — a title that promises something the gallery never shows is a return waiting to happen.
One image never sells anything on its own.
